Measurement and Evaluation Center

It was established in 2010 as a project supported by the projects management of the Supreme Council of Universities. It is the first of its kind in medical colleges in the Arab Republic of Egypt. It provides a distinguished professional service in following up the preparation and updating of question banks for academic courses in light of the targeted learning outcomes and academic standards for the study programs. It provides specialized reports for all departments on the exams that have been taken to improve performance. It also prepares trained cadres of faculty members and the supporting staff in the field of measurement and evaluation.

Vision:

That the center be a leading model at the local and regional levels for evaluation in higher education institutions.

The Mission:

The center’s mission is to strive to achieve fairness, transparency, efficiency and objectivity in evaluating students, while contributing to ensuring the quality of education in the college.

Objectives:

The center aims to achieve the following goals :

  1. Spreading the culture of “measurement and evaluation” and deepening it at the educational and administrative levels
  2. Measuring educational and achievement indicators in order to raise the efficiency of measurement and evaluation in the college
  3. Training cadres and attracting expertise in various fields of evaluation at the Faculty of Medicine
  4. Providing advisory services in evaluation and measurement for various educational institutions
  5. Conducting studies and research in the field
  6. Supervising the establishment and updating of question banks in all departments of the Faculty of Medicine
  7. Coordination with the quality assurance unit in the college 

First: Writing review reports on exam results. Perform statistical analyzes and then write review reports on all exams that are corrected electronically for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs (diploma – master’s – doctorate) and assist in taking corrective measures

Second: Building question banks for all departments in the college concerned with the undergraduate program and postgraduate programs and providing technical support on a regular basis.

Third: Training staff members, Periodic exercises, workshops, explanatory videos, written instructions, and checklists for developing exams and building question banks are held for faculty members and the supporting staff.

Fourth: Participating in preparing a plan for exam development in the college and in supervising electronic exams.

Fifth: Checking the work system with controls and electronic correction.

Sixth: Conducting research and studies related to the college and university.

Seventh: Providing consultations and technical support in the center’s areas of interest.

The Center’s plan for 2021-2022:

1- Updating the Bachelor’s program question bank.
2- Building a new question bank for postgraduate programs.
3- Publish a link for measurement and evaluation center holding recorded training sessions, workshops, checklists on how to build questions and recorded explanatory videos of the different powers in the question bank.
4- Holding training courses, workshops and checklists on how to build questions.
5- Training faculty members to read statistical analyzes.
6- The sources of conducting electronic tests and verifying the works of the controls.
7- Follow-up with the quality unit to measure satisfaction with the evaluation and measurement process in the college.

The Center’s plan for 2022-2023:

1- Updating the Bachelor’s program question bank with questions of gradual difficulty.
2- Follow up on building a new bank of questions for postgraduate programs and follow up on updating it.
3- Publishing a link for the Measurement and Evaluation Center among faculty members, which contains training courses, workshops, and checklists related to how to build questions. As well as recording explanatory videos of the different powers in the question bank.
4- Supervising electronic exams and checking the work system with the controls.
5- Ensure that appropriate corrective measures are taken by the departments.
6- Follow up with the quality unit to measure satisfaction with the measurement and evaluation process in the college.
7- Submitting a detailed report on the results of the bachelor’s program to the dean of the college before approving the result in preparation for announcing it.

– The Director and members of the Measurement and Evaluation Center were honored by Prof. Dr. Ossama Mansour, the Dean of the College for Postgraduate Studies in the Postgraduate Studies Committee on 6/12/2022 for their efforts in training faculty members to establish a postgraduate question bank and manage the bank.

– The Director of the Measurement and Evaluation center was hosted in the University’s Council of Postgraduate Studies on 6/21/2022 to present the Center’s experience in establishing a question bank for postgraduate programs at the college.

– The Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Center was hosted at the Ain Shams College of Education on August 3, 2022 to shed light on the steps that were followed to create a postgraduate question bank.
