Unit specifications
It is a unit affiliated with the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, led by Professor Dr., Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in accordance with the newly developed administrative structure of the College, and headed by Mr. Prof. Dr., Dean of the College.
It aims primarily to prepare for crises and disasters that may occur at the Faculty of Medicine – Ain Shams University, and to develop plans to confront these crises when they occur, then follow up on their effects, study the results, and submit reports to the college dean.
Vision of the unit
The Crisis and Disaster Management Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, aspires to be a leader in spreading the culture of crisis and disaster management at the level of Egyptian universities.
Message of the unit
The unit seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for students, college faculty members, and college employees, and raise the efficiency of all individuals in the college with regard to securing the college’s work environment and reducing the risks and negative effects resulting from crises and disasters through training and awareness programs.
Unit objectives
- Develop plans and mechanisms to predict risks in the work environment
- Planning to take preventive measures against crises and disasters
- Develop plans for the evacuation of buildings and how to act in the event of a crisis
- Developing cultural awareness regarding what crises are and how to deal with them
- Developing the capabilities of faculty and college staff on how to deal with crises and disasters
- Preparing reports on following up on plans, evacuation of buildings, and work environment risks
